This week I had two short pieces published. The first one, a drabble entitled Boys will be Boys came out in this weeks episode of the Drabblecast. This short piece was originally writen for Samdotpublishing’s The Drabbler but ended up as a podcast, and quite honestly I think Norm Sherman trully does it justice with his high quality production.
The second piece, entitled Garden Furniture and the Apocalipse is a short story that was originally writen for Polluto, rejected due to me missing the deadline (hmm I guess you should read the guidelines carefully before submiting somewhere) then submited to Flash Fiction Online and finally became my first story in EDF .
Looking back I can say I am very proud of both these stories but also very surprised where they ended up. Somehow I didn’t feel either were a good fit for the markets that accepted them. I didn’t think Boys was clear enough to survive as a podcast drabble and I felt Garden furniture was too long for EDF. Surprise surprise, so far both are recieved with very good feedback. Which only goes to show that sometimes you need to shut up your mental critic and let the editors of a publication decide what they want to publish.
